Gordon Thomas Whyburn (1904-1969) attended the University of Texas at Austin, obtaining Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the Department of Chemistry. He earned his Ph. D. in Mathematics in 1927 and became adjunct professor of mathematics from 1927 to 1929.
